Hi Michael,
thanks a lot for the link. I enjoyed reading your comments on WSJ article.
I agree that the WSJ article is limited. But then again it is not a technical magazine.

There is no doubt that thin clients have a lot of drawbacks, but nobody's perfect. I believe that sometimes in corporate environment it is desirable to have a thin client type of computer. Less maintenance, less power consumption. On the other hand, I also don't understand why manufacturers charge so much money for thin clients. the only explanation could be that they don't reach economies of scale when producing thin clients. Also i cant imagine a normal person buying thin client for picture editing :-).

Anyway, my point is that there are situations when thin clients are needed and sometimes it is better to use desktop computers instead. Technical people understand this. Unfortunately managers who make decisions are rarely aware of the options they have. They mostly read WSJ and rarely technical magazines. So in this respect WSJ does a fine job of promoting thin client computing concepts. I hope you ll agree with me.

The article leaves a lot to be desired in terms of explaining the pros and cons of thin client computing. For more see
